Where the Journey Began: Inaugural Grassroots Immersion in Palghar

In January 2025, the inaugural edition of Bharat Calling welcomed 25+ scholars from premier institutions — IIT Bombay, TISS Mumbai, ILS Law College, and state universities — for a transformative residential immersion in Palghar district.

Stepping Beyond the Classroom

Leaving behind lecture halls, students immersed themselves in rural village life. From early morning orchard walks to village tree assemblies, the camp set the foundational philosophy: genuine social leadership requires understanding ground realities firsthand.

Community Conversations & Clean Tech

Scholars engaged with farming families, studied solar lift irrigation installations in nearby valleys, and observed how community ashramshalas foster foundational learning despite resource constraints.
